Scarborough Seal and Marine Rescue Hospital

Scarborough Sealife Centre

Seal and Marine Rescue Hospital

The hospital relies entirely on donations and every penny donated goes to the animals. The Staff are wonderful people who are enthusiastic, dedicated and passionate about their work and they always inform us of how our money has been spent. They do lots of fantastic work, some of which goes completely unrecognised.

The Staff also do lots of work with children and on many occasions, giving children an opportunity to take part in activities and see wildlife that they would perhaps never get an opportunity to do. The Centre gives lots of help to autistic children who find being with the marine life very therapeutic.

With some of the money we have raised, the hospital now has two simulated seals. They look just like real ones and are the exact size and weight of a seal. With these, they can train students like Rebecca to catch injured/sick seals, look for infections and wounds and learn students how to administer medication. They now also have a new education room for the children

The Seals

A few months ago, David and Carol were invited to go with some of the Staff to release back into the wild the first two sick and injured seals to be rescued and restored back to health in the new hospital; one was called Rebecca and one was called Love! It was a very emotional day but one that wouldn’t have been missed for the world. Click here to see the seals!
